It’s a marketing phrase, not a regulated term. What actually decides whether fuel reaches you at 2 a.m.: who answers the phone, whether a loaded truck is staged, and whether a driver still has legal hours.
Passing a load test does not prove your fuel. NFPA 110 requires a monthly 30% run and a separate annual fuel quality test — and the test burns come out of the same tank the code expects to be full.
The engine stops, and it won’t restart the moment fuel arrives — running a tank dry pulls air into the injection system, and the restart is a bleed-and-prime job. Plan on hours, not minutes.

Shelf life is set by storage temperature, not the calendar: 12 months at 86°F, 6 months at 95°F — and a jug in a hot truck cab is in “test before use” territory by 11 a.m.
